FMP Supervision Log 1 - 25th January 2022

Meeting Notes & Action Points:

The objective is to meet my supervisor and for them to get to know me and my work previously and for the FMP.

The main target for me to work on is to think about the routes I will take, will I use an element of psychography, historical walks linked to my local area, or inspiration from poems and novels? Will I choose only coastal paths or explore other paths in Thanet? Will I look at the history of Thanet, it’s boarders and will this be based on geography, literature, maps and walkways? This is all for the next two weeks for the Project proposal to help pin down what I want to focus on.

I can think about experimenting with different methods, incorporating that landscape and environment, I could photographic technical processes to document the walks, will I explore audio or video or both?

Look into Gareth Phillip’s Wales walk, Guilitta Verdon Roe’s Scottish boarder work, to help explore my voice as an artist, also look into Tacita Dean’s work, along with novelists Richard Mabey ‘Nature Cure’, Rodger Deakin ’Wild Wood’, Nan Shepherd’s work on Anthropology, also look at Rural Gaze by Grain Projects and Stephen Burke.
